Founded in 1885 by the 13th Arizona Territorial Legislature, it was the first university in the Arizona Territory.
University of Arizona is one of the largest universities in the United States. There are currently over 49,471 students enrolled, as of 2021. This high level of enrollment most came from the University of Arizona’s purchase of for-profit Ashford University. This section of the university was renamed the University of Arizona Global Campus. That is the latest addition to the 19 separate colleges/schools in existence.
School at the University of Arizona includes the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Tucson and Phoenix and the James E. Rogers College of Law.
The university is also affiliated with two academic medical centers - Banner University Medical Center Tucson and Banner University Medical Center Phoenix.
